Basileus Welcome
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity” (Psalm 133:1)

As the psalmist noted, unity among brothers is a powerful force that creates long-lasting bonds and brings men of like mind and attainment together as family.  As the current Basileus of the MMN family, I extend greeting to you and encourage you to get to know us.

Brotherhood and Friendship, as an inseparable principle, has been the calling card of the Mu Mu Nu (MMN) Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated since its initial inception in 2014 and official chartering in July 2016.  As one of the largest graduate chapters in the 9th District, we pride ourselves on showing ourselves friendly to brothers who may have been away from the fraternity for a period, those who have recently relocated to the Houston area and friends who just want to stop by to dwell with us.

Despite our size, it isn’t about the number of brothers on our roll; it’s about the number of lives that we can impact in our community and around the world.  As a service organization, we are One Omega, and the work of our chapter as well as that of hundreds of other chapters around the world is designed to uplift our neighbors and create positive energy for the betterment of society.  Some examples of the work that MMN brothers organize, plan, and execute in the community include:

  • Annual Food drives

  • Community Blood Drives

  • Voter Registration events

  • Talent Hunt events for High School Students

  • Scholarship program support for High School seniors

  • Adopt-A-Highway

  • Fatherhood & Mentoring (Omega Gents Program)

  • College Fair support

  • STEM Program events (Middle & High School Students)

  • “Real Men Read” – reading program hosted annually at local elementary schools.

Through these and many other events in partnership with other chapters and various non-profit organizations, we are committed to leveraging our time, talent, and resources to have a positive impact on the North Houston community and the Houston Metro area more broadly.  So, when you see the brothers in the Royal Purple and Old Gold putting in work around town, please wave, honk your horn or stop by and say hello!  Our family would love to hear from yours!

In friendship,

Joe Long
