HBCU Presidents Private Forum

The purpose of this proposal is for the Mu Mu Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. to engage in a collaborative event and partnership with HHBCUAA to promote scholarship. The HHBCUAA President Forum for HBCU is geared for all the HBCU presidents to come together towards understanding the current generation of students, what they expect from college, their contribution to society, and how to eradicate the school-to-prison pipeline that is decimating our community.

With our collaboration, the chapter members shall engage with these presidents to understand how we as Omega can uplift our community and provide students with the necessary capabilities to succeed.

The School-to-Prison Pipeline is one of the most urgent challenges in educa􀆟on today.

Eradicating the current path from schools to prison is putting the classroom-running and curriculum-building decisions in the hands of the teachers and creating social programs that enhance our community in the hands of our community leaders.

There are several topics to be discussed that promote this thought.

  1. A New Educational Model

  2. Educating Parents

  3. Raise standards for teachers.

  4. Improved Resources for Teachers

  5. Improving access to sustainable livelihoods, entrepreneurial opportuni􀆟es, and produc􀆟ve resources

  6. Providing universal access to basic social services

  7. Progressively developing social protec􀆟on systems to support those who cannot support themselves

  8. Acknowledge and address overcrowding in the classroom

  9. Build a safe school community for all students

Social/community impact: The social/community impact of this event is to host and engage with educators regarding educational scholarships, gettng students interested in higher education and eradicate school-to-prison pipeline. Attending this forum will be more than 50 institutions of higher learning and 25 presidents representing HBCUs.
