Mu Mu Nu with their Omega Gents assists in laying Wreaths Across America

On December 17, 2022; members of Mu Mu Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. along with their young Men Mentor Group “Omega Gents” participated in the annual Houston “Wreaths Across America” Day Ceremony to lay wreaths in honor of those who served and sacrificed their lives for the betterment of America and the World. The mission statement “Remember, Honor, Teach” is to Remember the fallen; Honor those who served; and Teach our children the value of freedom. Each year hundreds of cemeteries across America are placing wreaths on veteran’s graves.

The Wreaths Across America story across began over 27 years ago when Worcester Wreath Company (a for-profit commercial business from Harrington, Maine) began a tradition of placing wreaths on the headstones of our Nation’s fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery.

With more than 250,000 veterans residing in or from the Great State of Texas, this has led our State to be the 2nd largest veteran population in the nation. Our city is extremely excited to demonstrate our commitment to recognizing all these men and women that contributed to the success of America.

Placing these wreaths on their grave site shows our commitment to honoring and celebrating these brave men and women that made so many sacrifices for our liberty.

More than an estimated 15,000 people passed through the gates of the Houston National Cemetery on December 17, 2022, to pay their respects and place more than 60,000 wreaths. Our heroes will be honored with a ceremony complete with a 21-gun salute, echo Taps, a bagpipe troop, and a Coast Guard fly-over.

We would like to invite you to join us in raising funds for Wreaths Across America-Houston, an organization that needs our help and support.

In our effort to assist, we are asking for donations to help raise money to place a live marine wreath upon all the 60,000 fallen heroes’ gravesites at the Houston National Cemetery; a project that has touched the hearts of our entire Fraternity.

As our community mourns these fallen heroes, we are committed to celebrating their sacrifice and contributions.

With your help we can honor all out veterans, one wreath at a time.
